Ojai Valley Sanitary District Wastewater Treatment Plant – Serving the Ojai Valley

Located at the south end of the Ojai Valley, the plant was originally constructed in 1963 with a capacity of 1.4 million gallons per day. It was expanded to the currrent capacity of 3.0 million gallons per day in 1965. A major rehabilitation and upgrade project, financed by a United States Environmental Protection Agency Clean Water Construction Grant, was carried out in 1982 to bring effluent into compliance with requirements established by the Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Control Board. Reduction of ammonia-nitrogen was the most important of these requirements. Treated effluent is discharged to the Ventura River.
